About the Community Activity Center

Overview

The Orchard Park Activity Center will improve the quality of life for all residents by offering social and recreational activities in a single, comprehensive and innovative facility that will continually serve generations well into the future.

With projected increases in our senior and youth populations for decades to come, the idea of a community activity center for Orchard Park was first proposed ten years ago. The idea is to combine all of Orchard Park’s government-provided recreation departments and activities into one complex. Doing so will not only address a growing list of deficiencies but will create greater efficiencies of service.

The New Community Activity Center is designed for every generation.

The new 59,000 sq. ft. Community Activity Center in Brush Mountain Park on California Road near 20A may be the most exciting and significant undertaking in Orchard Park’s history.  This multi-purpose facility meets most, if not all, of the growing need for recreational, wellness, and community programs.  It will accommodate Orchard Park’s senior programs, the Town Recreation Department, community activities, and youth sports.

  • Youth & Recreation program wait lists can be reduced and new programs added.
  • Seniors Citizens will have greater access to opportunities for social interaction and improved fitness of body and mind.
  • Our Community will have access to much needed facilities and programs.

The New Community Activity Center will be the center of our community.

Currently, our greatest generation, our senior citizens, meet in congested and aging facilities that are inefficient and present safety issues for some of our most vulnerable residents. Our youngest generation – children and youth, have seen important development athletic programs postponed or canceled due to inadequate space and facilities. The Orchard Park Community Activity Center will address these concerns and provide appropriate space and resources for our entire community.

The New Community Activity Center for children, youth and adult programs.

The Orchard Park Recreation Department and local youth sports programs have grown dramatically over the past two decades. Many of these community youth programs have been affected by space restrictions. The Orchard Park Community Activity Center space will provide new recreation and meeting opportunity space for our children, our youth, and our adult population to enjoy.

The New Senior Center Wing for our greatest generation.

The current Senior Center location is an 8,026 sq.ft. facility and located on two floors. Its undersized design has long presented safety issues for senior residents. With the growth of the Orchard Park senior population projected to outpace all other age groups over the next two decades, the need for appropriate and safe space is more critical than ever. The new Senior Center Wing will be 20,100 sq.ft. and will serve over 21,000+ sign-in visitors annually. It will be the hub of social activity and wellness support for our greatest generation.
